I have been many things over the past 40 years, but my favorite selves, chronologically, would be musician, writer, photographer, DJ, musician. My identity now is simply a Christian. One who has found the truth that without Christ, I Am Nothing. Without Christ, I cannot be the wife, mother, daughter, sister, musician, writer (and hopefully soon again, photographer) that I am now. Without Christ, I wouldn’t be here now, because I might have either taken my life in my teens or drunk myself to death in my early twenties. Or died giving birth to my son (who died to save me) in 2002.
Now, as I continue to live, I am finding more and more that truly without Christ, I AM nothing! From the most trivial to the most relevant, from the happiest to the most devastating moments of my life, Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, has been there. I know that now.
“All the days of my life have been written in your book before one of them came to be,” declared the psalmist of the Bible. I find that to be true now. If not for the cross of Christ, I would not know this.
And for this, I am eternally grateful.
